January Dreams

A new year, a new start! I know we can reinvent ourselves any time we want, but new years seems like such a great new start!

I’m in Switzerland again and taking the opportunity of the relative peacefulness to reorganise myself. It’s been wonderful not having a real time limit on sorting myself out!

The pictures above are a bit of a snapshot of my time here – lovely friends and family and beautiful surroundings of a winter wonderland:
  • Friends and sisters in a Swiss Winter Wonderland
  • Winter Wonderland
  • The fireplace and christmas decorations at the chalet
  • Me in red with the polka dot milk jug I adore
I’ve done some wonderful things that I feel really good about so far:
  • I did a really comprehensive 2010 review with my top 20, doing the Reverb10 questions and a few more general questions.
  • I’ve been working on my 101 bucket list
  • Working on different goal areas of my life and focussing on health and relationships as my main two areas for 2011.
  • Looked at routines to ensure I’m keeping myself on track towards the important things in my life.

And I thought I would start with the Monthly dreams and review again. And there are a few ways that I want to capture my year and activities. Doing my 2010 review really made me see that I didn’t have an easy way to collect the important things of my year, so perhaps rather challengingly I’ve decided to have:
  • Take a photo every day of the year
  • Have a one sentence journal for 365 days of the year that I have on my computer desk top
  • Write my morning pages in my diary
  • Do my monthly dreams and review
  • Write a week in review

My dreams for January are:
1. Find a personal trainer that is aligned, motivational and educational;
2. Enjoy a girly weekend away for Chloe’s birthday
3. Cut down on cigarettes
4. Get my goals for 2011 written down and action plans created
5. Create a vision board for 2011
6. Streamline my office systems – files and desk space
7. Confirm routines and put in organiser
8. Implement routine
9. Enjoy rest of holiday with family in Switzerland
10. Start putting together the new family tradition of individual’s questions and photos for the year
11. Include vision pictures in organiser
12. Enjoy flying premium economy London to Sydney
13. Decide of personal insurances and start implementing financial plan
14. Create a workable budget for 2011

Happy January!

Namaste

Namaste - a word I have always loved after hearing that it meant 'The divine in me bows to the divine in you'. How fabulous is that!

I've started Power Vinyasa Yoga at the local centre and am absolutely loving it. It's doing yoga at 30 degrees (centigrade my international friends) and you sweat your arse off while stretching, increasing your balance and improving your core. All the while giving yourself space, 'me' time and relaxation.

I also recently spoke to a male friend who had a very bad breakup with a yogi. He and another friend have a theory that yoga can also make people very self centred. My theory is that it depends on the individual... Thoughts?

I've been a few weeks without going to yoga and I really have to say that I miss it. My body feels the difference, my mind feels the difference and I can't wait to get back to Sydney to continue the journey.

Some of my favourite yoga resources are:
20 Minute Yoga Sessions - Podcasts you can download from itunes and put on your ipod or phone for yoga on the go
Kimberly Wilson - for living a stylish life of yoga on and off the mat. She also sells books and yoga workout recording from her main site.

Make it as you wish SSSs!

Sharing Stories

Why are we interested in the lives of others? Is it so that we feel connected to others? So that we can know that the thoughts, feelings, stresses and joys that we have in our everyday are shared by others? So that we can narrow the divide between ourselves and strangers on the other side of the world?

And I'm not talking about celebrities and the superficial details and dramas we hear about on celebrity news shows and magazines. This is real people, writing blogs, sharing their stories - their journeys, inspirations, disappointments, fun, adventures, and goals.

I've started collecting a list of blogs to check regularly. I'm not sure if I'll have a chance to look at them on such a regular basis, but at least I'll be able to access blogs on business, life, inspiration, motivation and creativity as needed. I'll share these when I collect a well rounded snapshot of blogs, because I seem to keep stumbling across treasures every day.

I'd love to share more of my journey. I'm not exactly sure what the end point is. I have a pretty good idea in my head of what I want my life to look like (and feel like), but I don't think I necessarily have a 'when I have two kids and a house on the best street'

I guess this is a journey towards a life of living my everyday with as much style, authenticity, ease, joy, giving-back, inspiration, passion, drive, love, laughter and humour as possible.

There are so many areas of life as a Savvy Sassy She that we can work on and it is a gradual improvement in all these parts that can make a life really, authentically whole and appreciated.

I really do love the idea of blogging on life's journey, but I also know it takes effort, a willingness to share fears, hopes, vulnerabilites and strengths as well as the discipline to do it regularly. Which can be quite difficult when I have a life that is quite full and stretched at times. So I will try to blog at least once a week, but the times I don't make it I won't punish myself too much.

Being open to a blog means looking at your life slightly differently. You open your eyes a little more to what is around you in your everyday and what actions you are taking. And of course you try to make them a little more interesting (wow...washing dishes can be a meditative practice and a time to put a problem out there to find a solution instead of just clearing dirt off eating utensils). And you start carrying around your camera to take great photos of everyday, normally mundane activities and objects (oooh, look how the light is reflecting off the clean laundry?!). Or play around with the effects on the camera while taking photos at an exhibition of the universe the man and I went through (as my photo above shows).

So, make it as you wish SSS
